Sharing Knowledge and Expertise

The Stance4Health Final Conference showcased extensive research outcomes and innovations in the field of personalized nutrition. Keynote speeches by Prof Mary Ward (Ulster University) and Dr Siân Astley (EuroFIR) provided interesting insights into the current state of personalized nutrition approaches and the importance of current and future data infrastructures. The conference delved deep into the relationship between non-communicable diseases and the gut microbiome, presenting the latest research from Stance4Health researchers and an outlook on the Stance4Health intervention trials. Project partners further presented the main outcomes from consumer studies, the newly developed gut microbiota-based food ranking algorithm, and the i-Diet app. On-site participants had the chance to experience the power of tannin-based products with special treats that are designed to enhance gut microbiota composition. The importance of bringing these solutions to the market and exploring pitfalls and opportunities for personalized nutrition solutions was a key element of the concluding discussions.

Interactive Panel Discussions

Key moments of the event were the two panel discussions. In the first round, panellists discussed current trends, opportunities, and scientific challenges of personalized nutrition approaches. They also explored key actors who should be involved to improve the uptake of these approaches. In the second panel discussion, the focus shifted beyond the plate and towards future approaches using technology and artificial intelligence. The discussion also addressed the necessary requirements for data security and regulatory necessities in a personalized public health century, and how these tools can be used in a medical and consumer context.
